Three Olives RangTang

Three Olives RANGTANGThree Olives has done it again!

The "O" earned its place on back-bars and liquor cabinets by introducing the first Grape and Cherry flavored vodkas.  They kept the spirit alive by being the first to introduce a Root Beer flavor and followed it up with Bubble.  Today they are at 17 flavors and I don't think there are any plans to stop there...  The cool part about Three-O is that they drop flavors that no longer perform well, so they aren't just flooding the store shelves with unpopular flavors (see Skyy, Absolut, Smirnoff).

The latest release since Bubble is RANGTANG!  It's their second "colored" vodka (the other is Triple Espresso) and it's an improvement on their Orange flavor.  The name Rangtang comes from ORANGE and TANGERINE.  In keeping with tradition, the flavor is smooth and robust and most importantly - FUN!  It pairs perfectly with the usual concoctions such as "bombs" and with Sprite or 7-Up.  Where Rangtang really shines is when it's mixed with Orange Juice or Tang (remember Tang???)!  Not that I condone Sunday morning drinking, but Rangtang in a Mimosa is a match made in heaven!

Wine, Liquor & Beer Featured on FVF

Bar owners and/or managers: if you are interested in any of the wine, liquor or beer featured on Fox Valley Fun, please contact your Wirtz Beverage Group sales person (formerly known as Edison Liquor).  I work hard to keep you up to date on the latest and greatest products being released.  I also try to feature staple brands that are established and proven.  Keep in mind that Absolut Vodka declined in sales last year, while Svedka and Three Olives grew in the double digits.  In these hard times, people spend their hard-earned dollar on brands that are seen as being worth the money.  Don't be afraid to shake it up a bit and add something exciting to your back bar!

Any other questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact me at tom@foxvalleyfun.com

Kraken Black Spiced Rum

Kraken Black Spiced Rum from Proximo SpiritsTHE KRAKEN™ Black Spiced Rum

The Kraken Black Spiced Rum is the newest offering from Proximo Spirits and weighs in at a legendary 94 proof. The Kraken is imported black rum from the Caribbean and blended with over 11 secret spices. The rum takes its name from the mythical sea beast which is said to have wreaked havoc with tall ships and rum running vessels throughout history.

While the smooth taste of The Kraken lends itself to be enjoyed as a sipping rum, it can also be enjoyed as a key ingredient in traditional cocktails like the Kraken & cola. For an interesting and new taste experience, try The Kraken with your favorite energy drink. The rich black color takes its hue from the mysterious ink that, as legend has, the Kraken covered its prey with during fierce battles at sea.

Ty-Ku Soju

Ty-Ku SojuTy-Ku came to the market swinging, offering the first ever self-lighting bottle, with their Citrus Liqueur.  The Ty-Ku line also offers high-end Sake including a Super-Premium Junmai Daiginjo (called "White") which retails around $100 for a 750ml.

Building on their success thus far, Ty-Ku has released another incredible product, Ty-Ku SojuSoju is based on an ancient recipe distilled with fine barley and pristine water.  It is generally believed that the first distilled liquid was created in Asia over 3,000 years ago.  Soju is the #1 consumed spirit in the world with over 3 billion people enjoying this fine liquid.  Although us Americans tend to like our Vodka, Soju could very well be the next big thing here at home.

TY KU Soju is all natural, made with no sweeteners, preservatives or additives.  Like Vodka, it is an extremely versatile liquor and is best consumed chilled.  Although Soju and Vodka share many similar characteristics, Ty-Ku Soju offers 40% less calories than the average Vodka.  It's a great option for folks who enjoy their adult beverages, but also try to watch their caloric intake.

Harlem Kruiden Liqueur... Move over Jager

Harlem Kruiden LiqueurIt's known in the Netherlands as Kruiden and in the industry as Harlem Kruiden Liqueur (named after Haarlem - a town outside of Amsterdam), but all we need to know is Harlem.

This herbal liqueur might be new to us in America, but it's been in the making for 35 years in the Netherlands, with the Nolet family (created Ketel One Vodka) behind this masterpiece.  The Nolet family is importing the liqueur into the US from across the pond and Wirtz Beverage Group will be the distributor in Wisconsin.  If it's from Nolet, you know it's good...
